Tell me about Crane. He was your roommate, wasn't he?

What's that old fool gone and done now?

He didn't do anything.

[Technically true.]

I assume he'd act if he had a bit of blackmail, yes? What does he do when he's not just dosing people?

Blackmail? Well, I wouldn't put it past him. Mostly, he keeps to himself. Blathering on and on about nonsensical compounds and nursery rhymes and Stephen King while he stirs that cauldron of his.

Well... I assume he doesn't want anything to do with me now, so I probably don't have anything to worry about. He's not the type to scheme when it comes to things beyond terrifying people?

Cheap scares are the only thing he's good for, really. Usually.

Well, it's good to know I don't have anything to worry about, then. Excellent.

...Implying you would have had something to worry about to begin with. You said he hadn't done anything.

...That's right. He didn't.

[Time to backpedal, Dist. You're typically so good at that.]

...Nothing that's any of your business! I'm not telling you and you'd never guess anyway!

Household action

[After Edward finishes up some phone call, Luke slips into the room. Everyone in the family has been fairly busy lately and therefore scarce, which only makes sense since the declaration of war on their household.

Luke's also felt a lot of tension that's been going around the house, and when he spots Edward he's eager to have some kind of conversation that doesn't involve war, Nazis, or other serious matters. Hopefully his not!father is feeling the same way today.]

Oh, hello Mr. Nigma! Busy today?

[questionauthority]

[Excellent timing, Luke. Truth be told, Edward's feeling exactly the same way. He's pretty sick of thinking about the Major, and Enigma's recent permadroning seems to have given him a much-needed jumpstart, encouraging him to shape up his act and work on his potential for paternity. So he'll hang up the phone and return the boy's inquiry with a grin.]

Not exceptionally busy, no. Why?

[And that grin gives Luke a little bit of relief. Looks like nothing bad was going on at the moment, it seems.]

Oh, I was just looking to get out of the house for a little while. Did you want to come with me?

[questionauthority]

I suppose I can tag along. A bit of fresh air always does the mind good.

[He migrates down the hallway to take his hat off the rack, though he leaves his coat hanging. It's been pretty decent weather as of late. His hand overs over the cane stand by the front door, contemplating which to bring along with him before finally deciding on the cane on the far right. He takes it in hand with a bit of a flourish.]

Shall we be going?

I've been ready. You'd have to be crazy to spend a nice day like this indoors!

[He grins a little. Really, he doesn't have a destination in mind. All he knows is that it's nice and warm out, and he wants to get out of the house and relax for a while. And spending the day with Edward would make it even better.

Luke walks over to the door impatiently and rests his hand on the doorknob, waiting for Edward to follow.]

[And follow Edward does, trailing behind Luke and closing the door behind them once they've both stepped outside. And oh, that fresh air really is rather nice.]

Perfect day for a walk. Or a drive, if we so desire.

[Aaaa that sunlight really is pleasant. Luke's momentarily distracted as he takes in the warm sunlight and all the sights and smells of spring, a much welcomed change from the winter season.]

Should we go driving...? It'd be a nice day for it.

[questionauthority]

It most certainly would. Rush hour should be over by now, and with any luck, the roads will be practically empty. [He sighs, content, as he heads down the front walk and towards the driveway.] That would be a relief. Hard to believe that, in this day and age, one could acquire a license at as young as fourteen.

As young as fourteen?

[Now Luke looks very intrigued. This is very much related to his interests...]

So what you're saying is, this year when I turn fourteen, I could get a driver's license? As in, my own car to drive and everything?

[questionauthority]

[That's right, Luke does turn fourteen this October, doesn't he?]

You could. Granted, the rules were much less strict in this era. I couldn't get my license until I turned sixteen, and even then, I didn't have my own car until college. [And it was a total P.O.S. car that he spent all of high school stealing money for saving up for.] But here? You'd be King of the Road.

[Eddie pauses when they reach the driveway. He's just had a Thought.]

But first, you would need to know how to drive. And in order to learn, you would need a good teacher.

[Hint hint.]

[Luke nods enthusiastically. He likes where this is going.]

And to get my license when I turn fourteen, it would help a lot if I had plenty of practice beforehand, right?

It wouldn't hurt your chances.

[He's practically dancing around the question now.]
